It’s Stephanie here again! As the end of the year approaches we all tend to reflect on the past year and how we want to spend the next year. Do you set New Years resolutions?
I question whether New Years resolutions are really beneficial, useful or motivating. I think setting a blanket goal for the year is not motivating or useful, it would be better to set a goal and set some steps or sub goals to check your progress along the way to keep you motivated.
It is also a good idea to spend some time reflecting on the prior year and deciding what worked and didn’t work for you, your family or business. You can decide on some changes to make to fix problems, negative habits or thought processes. You can’t keep doing things that don’t work and expect the results to change. On the flipside, be sure to also take some time to look at the things you did that really worked so that you can capitalize on that to keep doing what you did find worked. It is as important to ID those good habits, choices and actions, as it is to look at what doesn’t work. Goal setting and preparing for the New Year does not have to be a negative, self -beat down process.
For me 2016 is going to be an adventure and I am excited to jump in with both feet! In 2016 I am expecting a new baby, I am both excited and nervous about expanding my family this year, as I am not sure from day to day if I have life under control with one kid but I love this baby already and can’t wait to welcome him to our family. I am hoping to both build my business and spend lots of time enjoying my kids and husband. After baby is born my fitness goal will be to rehab my core and pelvic floor properly so that I can exercise and live the way I want to live, which is pad and adult diaper free while staying active. My next step in my goal setting and discussion with my husband will be what do each of these goals really mean, what does success in each goal look like and what steps do I need to take/ achieve to make them happen.
Sounds exhausting but I feel like if I don’t plan ahead a bit for such a busy year of change, it may not live up to my hopes and things I want to do and experience just wont ‘happen’ on their own. Like ‘they say’, if you don’t plan then you plan to fail.
In the mean time I wish you all a happy holiday season and a healthy, happy, successful new year.
